My students need sturdy tables and chairs.

Kindergarten is a year of learning and growing. Making it the best experience begins with a feeling of safety and an environment that allows children to do their best. Unfortunately wobbly work tables and insecure table legs can be very frustrating when you are trying to create a masterpiece.
My classroom is composed of 30 (plus) 5 year old boys and girls with unlimited amounts of energy and a very extensive imagination.
They are constantly asking questions, testing ideas, and creating things that most adults couldn't dream up on their best day! They have so much to share and offer to the world around them, and they want to know more about it each day. They fight every stereotype about students that attend public schools in the city. They are lucky enough to attend a school that cares about their future, education, and knows that their potential is endless. The only limits that these students face is the budget cuts of a public school system that just doesn't have the funding to purchase the endless list of items needed by our school.
The tables and chairs that I have requested will give my students a sturdy work place in the classroom. They will not have to worry about their table wobbling while they are working or the legs coming loose and falling off in the middle of creative writing. They also will not have to be seated at a separate desk alone because there isn't enough table space for them. Sometimes we forget that basic needs must be met before learning and creativity can take place.
These materials will help create a community of learning, without concerns of who is leaning on the table wrong or messing up the perfect picture to go with their journal assignment.
This project will meet basic needs so that my students can reach their educational potential.
