As a Special Education teacher, I believe that as teachers, we need to accent the positive. With new tools in the world, I'd love to combine ipads & apps for different types of SPED lessons. But first, I need to become a student which will offer changes in my classroom. In short, let me learn!
In my line of work as a Special Education Teacher, I am always working to enrich lessons for my students.
My students love technology tools and resources. With an IPAD mini in my classroom, this would allow all students under my wing to experience the interactivity of a the new iPAD mini and apps. I could use the IPAD and apps in centers, as well as in whole groups connected to my projector. I'd love a case with the iPad too.
I am currently a Special Education teacher at an elementary school with more than 500 students from Pre K through 5th grade. Currently, I am working with 13 students in several grade levels in classroom settings and in my own classroom. Although, I work with 13, I am working with any students in classrooms needing help. I love my students and bringing out the best in them.
I would love to offer my students lessons with technology eventually. To do that, I must first embark on learning more, myself.
My Project
As a Special Education teacher, I have an interest in learning about IPADS to eventually help my students in my classes. My action plan in terms of Professional Development would include meeting 3 times (1 to 1) with my school's technology coach. We've set up a lesson plan to guide me with my personal journey. At home, I will read professional development articles to learn about effective uses of IPADS. To prepare myself for better lessons, I was advised to use the school's professional development reading list.
Through the use of the requested IPAD Mini, my tech leader will guide me with my own personalized learning journey. The lesson plan created has me striving for 2 goals: Part 1 will include learning technical issues & physical aspects such as iTunes, downloading apps, etc. Part 2 is geared toward ways to implement successful IPAD lessons for my own students. I would love a case, as well.
With the face of educational ipads and apps, your group can help me not only as an educator, but as a student.
As a Special Education teacher, I believe that as teachers, we need to accent the positive. This teacher wants to change her students by offering more. Technology has led us on different paths with ipads & apps for the classroom. My goal as an educator, now lies reversing roles & becoming a student again. With an ipad it would help me bring changes. Will you help me?
