As an educator who regularly uses art in the classroom to enrich lessons, my students known firsthand how art can be a transformative experience for both the artist and the viewer. We have been searching for a fun way to enliven after school activities using new art supplies.
I work in a high-poverty, inner-city school where teachers and administration do their best to provide these activities for students.
My students are interested in a variety of art mediums including sculpting and drawing. Their continued successes in creating art are inspiring and exciting to watch!
My Project
We are requesting a variety of art supplies in this project, including Play-Doh and several different kinds of art markers, pencils, and erasers. Students will have the opportunity to sculpt using the modeling clay and then translate those sculptures into ink and pencil drawings for display. This enriching opportunity will be offered after school and will allow for many of our kids to experiment with art supplies both familiar and unfamiliar. It should be exciting both for the students and faculty.
Your support of this project will give students an after school opportunity they might never have had.
Many of my students express great interest in studying art; I believe this blending of sculpting and traditional drawing will give them an exciting experience they will carry with them for years. Thank you for your support.
