Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students dream of being rock stars. The curtains open and the spotlight shines on each of them.

My students love to rock!
They are over 150 6th, 7th and 8th grade middle school students at a Title One school in California. These kids spend an hour in class and then stick around because they love the opportunity to play modern music on modern instruments. The guitar and stage band program is relatively new and we working hard to build up our materials so that students can play the music that they love. The choir students love to sing and perform for their families, community and school.
My Project
The capos will be used to help us play songs in new keys. The tuners will be used each and every day by all students so that we can quickly tune our instruments and start the rocking each day. With this equipment they will be able to greatly expand their repertoire.
The guitar straps will allow the acoustic guitar students to stand up and perform as part of a real rock band. The drum mat will keep the drummers from sliding off of the stage!
The keyboard equipment will be used to replace an ancient out of tune piano. It will be used by students and the choir accompanist. It has a full 88 keys just like a real piano.
The guitar will be used in class daily to instruct the guitar students and on stage during our performances.
Finally, the wireless microphones will help up cut cords, and get the students moving around the stage like professional singers.
All of the equipment in this project will get us off and running to an amazing school year.
The tuners and capos will allow students to tune up quickly and play a songs in different keys. The straps, and mics will get them off the ground and moving around the stage like professional musicians. Students will have their own equipment and class rehearsals and shows can get moving quickly.
