My class is full of 25 incredible little hearts that are so eager to learn everyday! Have you ever listened to directions for an assignment but had a hard time understanding? Students learn and understand much clearer when they can not only hear but also see what they are supposed to do!
I have 25 first graders that come from all sorts of backgrounds.
My school has a large number of students who do not speak English at home. Learning in a second language is very difficult. My students are very eager to learn and full of life. We are a fun little classroom family and I work hard to incorporate fun and engaging activities in everything we do. First graders are full of love and everyday is an adventure with them!
My Project
Having a document camera will benefit my class because a number of my students are learning in a second language. Being able to see me explain assignments visually as a whole will be beneficial for them and for me. I can spend more time helping students who are struggling with the actual assignment rather than having to re-explain directions 5-10 times because they needed a more visual explanation. I will be able to use minupulatives in a way that all students will be able to see at once. Not only will they be able to see at the same time but they can work right along with me. Wireless headphones will help our listening center to be functional once again! Emergent readers benefit tremendously by reading along with a story. This center is an important part of their growth as readers. Right now our listening center is not functioning. The headphones get twisted, short out, or just do not work.
Having these items will benefit my class in large ways.
