Time for Kids Keeps My Kids Connected

My students need "Time for Kids" to help them keep current on news events, which is a major part of our class.

Grades 6-8

I teach a group of culturally and economically diverse 8th grade class. Many of my students come from needy homes and a high number of them qualify for free lunch.

My students have had "Time for Kids" in the past and many enjoy reading the articles. It exposes them to non-fiction reading, which studies show helps to improve reading comprehension, plus it is kid friendly. Some of my kids have even written letters to the editor!

Keeping kids focused on current events, both nation and international, will help them see the connection to the world around them. "Time for Kids" is also a great resource for them to see many of the subjects we cover in class, including the President and Congress, in action. It helps to make that real-life connection that's essential to effective social studies instruction.

You will make it possible for my kids to keep abreast about the issues that affect them. They can see real-life connections to topics we discuss in class, and see how our world is truly interdependent.
