Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Many students in low-income areas do not get the exposure to world issues that is important in this age of globalization.

My students live in the Dallas area and many do not know about life outside of their own neighborhood.

Reading Time magazine will not only help promote non-fiction literacy skills, it will help open my students' eyes to new cultures and events around the world.

My Project

I am requesting 21 subscriptions to Time for Kids. As a science and social studies teacher, this will be a key resource in my class as I teach students about the world around them. I have three class sections of approximately 20 students each. The magazine will be used by 60 students.

By using Time for Kids in my classroom, I hope to spark my students' curiosity in other cultures and current events.

I hope to inspire my students to start reading more non-fiction and keeping up with the news. This will help them improve their reading skills and support critical thinking.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
