My students need multiple copies of lots of series mystery books, including Cam Jansen, Nate the Great, Meg Mackintosh and more, that support our Mystery unit in Reading Workshop.
Reading Workshop is a pivotal part of our school day. My students read their independent 'just right' books after learning a new strategy that will cultivate their reading lives. They are all avid readers, who are in need of new and engaging books at their level.
They absolutely love to read!
In fact, many find it difficult to put their book down as they walk down the hallways. This genuine love for reading can be attributed to the strong literacy culture at our school. My classroom has a range of readers from K-P with their own taste in literature and favorite authors.
My Project
The mystery unit is an all-time favorite reading unit for third graders! With a brand new collection of mystery books, my students will be well-prepared for this fun-filled unit. The unit requires students to be in book clubs of four students, and it is very important to provide each book club with a text that is of interest to every student. As a group, students will work together to deepen their understanding of a mystery series.
We need multiple copies of lots of series mystery books, including Cam Jansen, Capital Mysteries, Meg Mackintosh and more, that support our Mystery unit in Reading Workshop.
It is one of the saddest parts of my day when a student, who was deeply engrossed in a particular book, comes up to me to show me that a chapter is missing or the pages are falling out of their book.
Their reading experiences are often disrupted because of the condition of the books and also when they cannot find a "just right" book that truly interests them. My vision is for these books to resolve these issues, and put a quality book in the hands of my insatiable readers!
