This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have to get my kids ready for the math and reading state tests at the end of the year. The biggest challenge is that they come to me at different levels, K-5, and I have to get ALL my students to pass or they don't go to 4th grade. I enjoy the challenge though and I love my students.
I teach third grade at a Title I school.
We are 100% free lunch. My students have many challenges they deal with on a daily basis. Their home life is not ideal; shootings, lack of positive male role-models, fighting, poverty, single family homes, moving, etc. My job is to not only teach them and get them prepared for the next grade, but to be their mentor, mom, nurse, counselor, friend, etc. I love what I do and where I do it.
My Project
The partitions will be used during our weekly assessments and benchmarks as we prepare for the state test. It will provide privacy so they can concentrate and hide any distractions. The book boxes will be a sturdy and organized way to hold their books and journals as they go to their different daily centers.
As a teacher, I go into my own wallet all the time to make sure my students have what they need.
I don't ever want one of my kids to be without because their parent(s) can't afford it. This will help my students prepare daily for their state test by being organized and be less distracted during assessments. I will also be able to use these for many years to come.
