My Students

My students are absolutely amazing! They come to school every day excited to learn and grow! Our school and team is a very special place, everyone is their for the same reason, the children!

My students come from all walks of life but most of my student population comes from poverty.

No matter what is going on in their lives, they all come to school with a smile on their face and ready to learn! I want to give my students many opportunities they may not get at home!

My Project

My second graders bring so many different learning styles and needs to the classroom but one thing they have in common is their love of reading. My students need exciting and engaging books to drive our discussions and deepen comprehension skills.

My students relate and understand stories when they have a connection to them.

Many students don't have extensive libraries at their homes, if they even have any. That's why I take every opportunity I can to find enriching material for them everyday.

These books will create an engaging library for my enthusiastic students. They will use these books as an introduction to chapter books. They will be able to create connections from the books to themselves, to their world, and to other books. We will develop and deepen comprehension skills such as inferring, visualizing, summarizing, and finding evidence in the text.
