Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My first graders have an itch for writing! They enjoy writing personal narratives, made up stories, opinion pieces, and writing informational paragraphs.

My students work extremely hard and are always very proud of their work, even though many read and write below the first grade standard.

They have goals and priorities and enjoy collaborating with each other to make their writing pieces even more exciting.

My Project

We are requesting a printer/scanner and ink, so that my students can print out their writing pieces in our classroom. My students would be able to see their writing pieces come alive before their very eyes, and be able to share their pieces with their peers, other teachers, and families immediately.

This project will help my first grade authors see the writing process from beginning to end!

They work so hard on each piece of the writing process, starting with planning and finishing with publishing on the computer, that it would be magical for them to see their pieces finalized in the classroom.
