Have you ever dreamed about learning how to play an instrument, or performing on stage in a concert? Well, all 4th graders in our district have the opportunity to be inspired in that way, if we can get them there.
Our students are enthusiastic and full of talent, but do not always have the chance to show it.
Our school district is the largest school district in New Hampshire, and the most diverse. In 4th grade students have the opportunity to play a string instrument, and in 5th grade they can learn to play a concert band instrument. In order to inspire students to play an instrument, we have partnered with Symphony NH in a program called "Picture This." Our eager students will learn about important components of orchestral music, get to experience a string quartet performance at their school, and then attend a full symphony performance at the local high school.
My Project
With the donations from this project, students will be able to attend the full symphony orchestra performance at our local high school. We have 1,072 4th graders in the district who need to be transported to the auditorium in order to have this experience. This is the big event that will show students what is truly possible when they work hard at learning an instrument. It is an experience many students will not get any other way.
Donations to this project support the music education efforts in our entire district.
In addition to giving all 4th graders an experience they won't soon forget, it is also enriching their learning in a way that is not possible in the classroom. Students will learn to appreciate live concert music, and be inspired to create music of their own!
