My Students

"Music can change the world because it can change people". I currently serve as the RTI specialist, where I support students by helping teachers with Best First Instruction and classroom interventions. My educational passion is music and art integration, which improves learning for all.

First and foremost, my school is unlike any other - a strong welcoming community that nurtures and educates students to not only excel in learning but also as 21st century citizens.

That being said, students at my school are bright, creative, kind, motivated, and very talented!! They enjoy challenges and truly strive to be the best.

My Project

Students will use the iPads to work in small groups to learn music structure and songwriting skills. Students will work through each song lab course as a 7-week module using the app “Garage Band”. The first module will focus on basic songwriting and features of Garage Band, while future modules could focus on more advanced music and technology skills. Each module will culminate with a “listening party” where all student song creations are celebrated, and students will leave the class with a CD of their OWN music!!!

The Song Lab will provide an additional opportunity for students to learn how to use current technology to enhance and unlock their creativity while also working on the 21st century skills they need to pursue careers in music.

The program will be unique in that using the ipads to teach music allows any student to participate regardless of music background or access to instruments.
