Listening skills are important in life. There is a difference between hearing and listening. In kindergarten, we focus on the importance of listening. With listening centers involving headphones and book CD sets, I could help my students increase their listening comprehension level.
I teach Kindergarten at a Pre K-5 school with over 500 students.
The parental support is very important to our families in the community. In addition to that, our school has wonderful and caring leaders and teachers. Let me also add, that we have the most wonderful students!
I have been a Kindergarten teacher many years now, and despite obstacles in the teaching field, I still love teaching today. Our school is one that knows the power of technology in the classroom, and we work hard every year to gain more technology resources for our students. With small and large grants, we keep striving to bring more to our school and children. In short, our students are, and will always be our top priority.
My Project
Listening skills are an important part of communication skills. Children need to focus on learning listening skills, even more so at the elementary level. It has been said that listening has three parts to it: (1) hearing the speaker, (2) understanding what the speaker is saying and (3) making a judgment based on that understanding.
With a set of wireless headphones and several wonderful book and CD sets, I could broaden my classroom listening and technology center. Each book set has one CD and four books. The wireless headphone set also has 4 headphones. It is a perfect setting for my classroom listening center. It is important for our students to become active listeners at a young age. These resources would help me do that with my kindergarten class.
As an elementary teacher, I know that listening is important to a child's development.
With the use of a wireless headphone set used in conjunction with book and CD sets, my kindergarten students could engage in a listening center to reinforce listening skills.
