This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I remember being young and getting to act out my favorite stories or creating one of my own. I want my students to have the same experience of telling stories and acting them out by using puppets.

My class is a special education class of eleven physically and health impaired students.

They are very eager learners who have the best imaginations ever. They really enjoy making up and acting out stories. At present we don't have that many puppets to help us to do this. We are at a public school in a special day class.

My Project

My students will be able to retell their favorite stories using puppets. The puppets are a great way to increase their oral language skills by retelling a story that they like. A second feature is that they will gain comprehension skills by being able to tell what the story is about. The most exciting thing for me is the fact that by using the puppets they will be able to use their imaginations to make up their own stories to act out.

This will make a difference in my class in that it will give them a chance to act out a favorite story in a fun and exciting way.

To gain knowledge of how to speak up so an audience can hear them and to make a cohesive story and tell it in sequence. With the simple use of puppets my students will be able to improve their oral language skills along with reading skills.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
