Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are surrounded by technology; smartphones, laptops, digital cameras to name a few. Unfortunately, many of my students have limited access to these resources in their homes. My hope is through the use of an iPad, we will be able to integrate these tools into our daily learning.
I teach at a low income charter school whose student population encompasses diverse learners including English language learners.
Our families make a choice to send their children to our school rather than their neighborhood school. My kindergarten students have an enthusiasm for learning and are eager to become readers and writers.
My Project
Can you imagine practicing your spelling words by scanning a QR code? Or recording a child reading to share with parents. All this and more is possible with an iPad. My students are 21st century learners but have limited access to 21st century tools. My goal as their teacher is to provide them with the tools to be successful for life. An iPad could change this. This device has many features that we could use such as the camera to document learning, or reading Apps to reinforce or practice skills. But, perhaps the most invaluable learning, will be the sharing of knowledge between students as they talk and work together while using the iPad. No longer will my students be left behind. They could be on the cutting edge of technology with your help.
An iPad could change the way my students learn and how I teach.
It will help us integrate technology into our daily lives. Can you imagine a day without technology? Probably not. But for many students, like mine, this is a reality. Your support to fund my class could change that and their lives forever.
