Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Everyone has a story to be told. Our lives are stories being written every day. The students of my classroom have stories that need to be told. They need to find their voice.
My class is 6th grade Language Arts.
My students attend a school in a Title I district. They are very capable students, however many times we lack technology resources. Many of my students are Special Education inclusion students and deserve to have the best resources available to them. They are bright young children that would benefit greatly from the use of technology.
My Project
My goal, as a first year teacher in a Title I district, is to create opportunities for my students to use technology. The use of an iPad in the classroom is highly engaging and motivating. Those are two key words that should define every classroom. My hope is for my students to use the technology to enhance their skills as researchers, writers, and creative thinkers.
I have requested an iPad 2, a protective case, and 3 sets of headphones. This technology will give my students the chance to not only use the endless amounts of online resources, but also to become digital citizens of our community.
Students will be able to use the technology to expand their experiences. Research can be done in the classroom with the iPad. Students can take virtual field trips, Skype authors, blog, create poetry, share their stories, and much more. There are endless amounts of resources on the internet and many educational apps that will give my students a well rounded education.
Donations to this project will make all the difference in our classroom.
Accessibility to technology is highly important in our society. If we expect our students to become digital citizens then we need to be able to teach them how to do so. To be able to teach them we need the resources. The lasting impact of this project is one of greatness. Providing technology opportunities for my students, who may not have access any other way, will have a lasting impact on their education and lives.
