My students need to have Chromebooks to access the Internet to do historical research, create presentations, and hone their 21st century literacy skills.
I like to use technology in class to engage students on a regular basis. I have access to two computers in class. This is great but limits the amount of students who are able to use the technology. I would like to incorporate technology on a daily basis. Chromebooks can make that happen!
The students in my classes come from a wide variety of backgrounds from all over the world.
Many of them are second language learners. Most of them come from low income families and have no Internet access at home. These children are bright and eager to learn.
My Project
The Chromebooks would be used to have students do historical research, create projects and presentations and participate in online activities. This will help them continue to develop critical skills that they will need in high school, college or ready them for the workforce.
Some of the activities are:
Researching Historical Documents (Primary Sources),
Creating Power Point Presentations,
Working online collaboratively (Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides) to develop research and writing skills,
Posting to the class website,
Creating Thinglinks (interactive pictures),
Researching historical people and events.
Donations to this class project will be very much appreciated.
More students will have access to computers to complete class assignments. Use of the Chromebooks in class will help to engage students and get them excited to learn about History.
