Mrs. Minahan from Madison WI is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need engaging technology (iPad Air and AV adapter) that can be used for a variety of purposes in the classroom!

My students love learning, and are always thirsty for new knowledge. Its time they have a new way of showing their passion for knowledge, and this iPad will make this happen in my classroom!
he school where I teach is very hard to describe.
When you see our 'School Report Card,' we are a school that is not achieving in ways our state wants us too. Our test scores aren't that great. But when you walk in the doors, you see a staff that goes above and beyond to help students achieve in anyway possible. Upon closer look, one would see a student population who faces great challenges when they leave school for the day. You would see students of color who live in poverty and may have trauma in their background. What is also extremely evident is a lack of supplies and books that make our students excited about reading. Our book room has outdated books that are falling apart. Our classroom budget is $150, and that includes everything we might need for the year. (There are no free handouts once supplies dwindle.) I have a class of third graders who are expected to be reading at grade level by the end of the year, but where are the engaging resources to get them there?
This amazing piece of technology will be used in various forms throughout our classroom. At the start of the school year, we do a TON of role playing and modeling of expected classroom behaviors. Setting up proper routines and expectations is crucial for student success in my classroom. This iPad will help document what our expected behavior looks like and sounds like. The iPad will record students role playing of great behavior and the video will then be projected on the screen for the class to analyze. If behavior ever falters throughout the year, we can always come back to these "modeling" videos! Students will also use the iPad to hear themselves read, do online learning applications and will be used for constant formative assessments by myself! Having this piece of technology in our room will allow for countless avenues of engagement for my third graders!
Its time up-to-date technology comes into my classroom!
I'm so excited to add this piece of technology into our daily routine. My third graders deserve diverse options in showing they are growing as readers, writers and mathematicians. This iPad will engage students in their learning, and give them an exciting way to show they are growing as learners everyday!
