Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever been in the classroom and been utterly frustrated because you had a learning disability that made learning a struggle? My students deal with that feeling often.

My school is a high poverty, Title 1 school.

A majority of my students have free or reduced lunch and all of my students receive free breakfast. My students are in grades 2nd through 5th grade and have been diagnosed with dyslexia. My students have little to no access to technology outside of school.

My Project

Our school is brand new and lacks certain materials. I am requesting a laptop to create a technology center in my classroom. My students have been diagnosed with dyslexia and struggle to read. The classroom laptop would be part of our technology center. It would allow my students to use software that will allow them to work on reading, spelling and writing. The software will track the students' progress throughout the year. The laptop case will keep our laptop in good condition for many years. The Reward Kit, Reward Treasure Box, and student pointers will be used as incentives for my students. Students who have shown great work, progress and improvement will be able to earn those prizes.

This project is so important because it will help my students with dyslexia love to learn.

My students face struggles on a daily basis in their education because of their learning disability. The technology center and incentives will make learning more engaging for them.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
