"All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them." - Walt Disney. My dream is to have technology available in my classroom on a daily basis so I can provide the optimal learning environment for my students. This in turn will help make their dreams come true too!
My students are a diverse group of students with some students speaking English as a second language, some with learning disabilities and others that are achieving beyond grade level expectations.
More than 75% of my classroom is on free and reduced lunch and do not have access to technology at home. Even with the obstacles they face they are a motivated group of kids with hearts of gold.
Just before the winter break I had an in depth conversation with a student about how hard it is being away from your mom while she is deployed. It tugs at my heart strings to think about the heartbreak and loneliness they feel while their parents protect our nation. This obstacle in itself is more than most kids have to face. I want to make sure I give my students the world when they are at school with me.
My Project
My students will use the Chromebooks in many different ways. They will use the computer in our classroom tech center for research, projects, educational learning programs, literacy centers and the every day typing tasks. Students get really excited when they are able to research and type the information they find during their research time. They are practicing their technology skills, while learning valuable academics. Our school is also required to allow the students time to use I-Ready (an educational website) on a daily basis. Unfortunately our computers are falling apart, so everyday we have less access to this site and using technology at all. The resources I am requesting will open up our learning opportunities in many different ways. It is very important for my students to learn how to use technology properly, since most jobs today require technology skills and/or knowledge.
These donations will enhance the learning in my classroom.
