Teaching with Technology: Let's All Go to the Movies
My students need two Samsung Galaxy tablets! We do a lot of collaborative group work in our classroom, and the ultimate goal is for us to have at least one tablet per group of 6 kids.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Tell me and I'll forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn."
My goal is to get my students involved in their education. I want them to know that the world is at their fingertips. They are bright and inquisitive, and they deserve every opportunity I can give them to succeed.
My 5th grade students range in age from 9 to 12 years old.
They are wonderful kids who want to do well, and who have a hunger for knowledge.
I teach at a low income, Title 1 school; many of my students are on free and reduced lunch. We have earned the title of a California Distinguished School. Our school is like a small community. Parents and students work together with our staff to ensure that each child gets the education they deserve.
My kids are bright and eager to learn, and I want them to have every opportunity to be successful and to continue to grow as innovative, creative thinkers.
My Project
We are requesting two tablets for our classroom. We do not have a lot of technology available to us, and I would like to change that. Besides being used for access to our class blog, and for research, our class will be using these tablets, along with a tabletop movie making studio, to create a variety of projects. One of the projects the tablets will allow us to create is an updated version of a book report. Rather than written book reports of old, the kids will be creating mini movies and book trailers instead. Groups of students will write, direct, and film short movies using the tablets and a tabletop movie studio.
The possibilities for these types of projects seem endless; in addition to book reports, the students can create plays, educational videos, and more. All of this will be available with the addition of these two tablets!
I love to get my kids involved and excited about their education.
Technology is a surefire way to do this! Giving my kids tablets to work with in the classroom will open a lot of doors for them that they will be excited to go through. After all, a teacher opens the door, but the student must enter!
Thank you!
