Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. ~Chinese Proverb
I teach mathematics in a Title 1 school in Georgia.
Each year I find that my students depend on me to "give" them the skills and knowledge that is needed to be successful. I am on a mission to change this mindset. I want to make sure that my students become independent thinkers. I want them to be able to apply the skills and knowledge that they have acquired without having to constantly ask me if it is correct.
My Project
I want to teach them to fish. I want to introduce my students to the blended learning concept. The blended learning concept will eliminate the need for me to provide direct teaching to everyone. Instead, it allows me to focus on the students who need me to guide their learning. Also, taking me out of the center of the classroom allows the students to focus more on activities rather than lectures. We need a printer for the our technology station to ensure that the students are able to printer their creations in color. My students are working hard to create mathematics projects within the classroom. They want the full scope to be appreciated. They want to see in color.
Funding this project will allow me to grant their wish.
My students deserve the opportunity to be able to learn for a lifetime. Your gift will make that happen! Thank you for your consideration!
