Teach For The Planet: STEM Projects With A 3-D Printer

My students need a 3-D printer, supplies, and cartridges for fun, innovative projects. The covers will protect our iPads effectively.

My Students

I have a fantastic group of learners who would benefit greatly from creating items with a 3-D robotics, math, and science experiments with this device. They love hands-on learning and this printer can open up engineering to individuals who might not have ever considered such a profession.

I have an amazing bunch of learners with inquisitive minds and they ask fantastic questions.

I have many English language learners who thrive when we conduct experiments and use innovative resources to understand new material. I have limited tools and robotics kits are just too expensive, but one 3-D printer can make a huge difference in the long run. They are always so excited about posing investigations, getting their hands dirty, and learning beyond the curriculum. However, our school has a high amount of students and parents who struggle to pay their own expenses and our school lacks the funding necessary to conduct so many labs. Our students deserve the same access, but we need more help.

My Project

Imagine being able to touch what you are learning and revolutionize sustainable design. Students will learn about engineering, while incorporating environmental awareness and promoting recycling. We will use these technological tools to build models of Earth's structure, understand our changing planet, and create replicas of Earth's movements and materials. Many students recycle paper, cans, and bottles. However, they don't always think about how many times the item can be used before it ends up in that blue bin. We will investigate how to create printing spools, using recycled materials. We are here to teach for the planet, because we need to take exceptional care of our ecosystem.

Teach for the Planet is an important concept, that promotes positive environmental sustainability.

What can we build out of recycled materials? What if we could build prosthetic hands and legs? Not only can we help others, but we can help our planet too.
