I want to spark the imagination of my students with a selection of great literature. Remember how excited you were to open up a "cool" book in elementary school! Imagine being able to read those for school and discuss with others. These books will help our class do just that.
My students attend a rural school in Missouri.
With a limited library selection, enabling my students to read many genres will open their eyes to the wonders of reading. We will also be able to have engaging discussions about these books through multiple copies.
My Project
With this literature we will be able to have daily reading groups. The groups will have thought provoking discussions facilitated by the teacher. The more books students read, the more successful they are. Exposing them to many genres at a young age gives the students an idea of what they would like to read in the future.
These books will help my students develop a true love of reading while reading texts that are at their level. Igniting a passion for reading at such a young age is irreplaceable and can take them far in life.
This variety of literature will help my students develop perspective.
They can gain understanding of others and the world through the events happening in the books.
With multiple choices students can decide what they want to read, therefore making the reading process more engaging. Students will starting beginning reading at this age but continue into adulthood.
