Do you remember huddling around a small table to watch your teacher demonstrate the different parts of a flower? It was a tight squeeze but every once in a while you would get a glimpse of something awesome! This is the year ALL students will be able to see throughout the entire project!!
The 6th graders at Timber Creek Elementary are very curious people who are excited to learn.
They want to learn through hands on activities and see experiments unfold with their own eyes. Our class sizes keep increasing through the year, so to gather around to see what I am demonstrating is getting more difficult. Our students need to be able to see the demonstration the first time, so they can start exploring and working on their own. We are a brand new school this year so our technology is very limited. I want to be able to give our students the same opportunities other students have in our community providing them the technology necessary.
My Project
With a document camera in our room my students will be able to see the science experiments from start to finish. This camera also has the capability to show a time lapse. Students will be able to see mold grow before their eyes!! I can also save video and lessons with this camera. This will be very helpful for many reasons. One reason is if a student is absent I can post the experiment, or lesson, from our camera to our website. The student can watch it at home, and not be behind when they return to school. Students will also be able to show posted experiments to their parents. This is a great way for students and parents to learn together. With this interactive document camera students and I will be able to demonstrate understanding by using the remote to circle, highlight, and zoom in on questions they may have.
Each donation to this project will benefit my students in many ways.
Students will finally see experiments on a big screen. They will be able to see cloud formation with the lapsed time feature. When it is time to create their interactive notebooks, they will be able to see an example clearly without having to wait on the teacher to come around and assist. This will improve the way our students learn, and help them retain information that they may not have been able to in the past.
