This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
“Television didn't transform education. Neither will the internet. But it will be another tool for teachers to use in their effort to reach students in the classroom. It will also be a means by which students learn outside the classroom” – John Palfrey
My 4th graders are amazing students.
They love to learn and play educational games on the computers that we have in class. Most of the students at my school are a part of the free and reduced meal program. Many of them only have access to computers, tablets, and/or iPads at school. When they are able to use these devices at school for educational purposes, they make great progress.
My Project
Our school has just implemented Study Island. This program helps students master grade level standards in a fun way. The program also provides teachers with another engaging tool in order to present material to their students. They are able to monitor progress of each student which allows the teacher to monitor and adjust assignments for their students. Having a few tablets in the classroom will allow more of my students an opportunity to complete assignments via Study Island.
Having two tablets in the classroom will allow two more students to work on assignments through Study Island.
The more students that can be on Study Island at one time, the more of them that will be able to enhance and master the skills needed in 4th grade.
