Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am honored to teach over 100 7th grade students, most of whom come from low income homes. The greatest challenge that I face as their Science teacher is providing them with the resources that they need.
I have a very diverse group of students, most of whom come from low income families.
Many of my students have very little home support when it comes to their education. Even with all of the challenges that they face, they are hungry for learning and surprise me each and every day. Our school, albeit large in size, is more like a family then a middle school. My wish is to give my students all that they dream and deserve in order to make them successful.
My Project
We have a great need for technology in our classroom. Science is all about making an observation, forming a question, and investigating until you have found the answer. My students will use these tablets to aid in their scientific investigations and research. For example, they can research various methods of food preservation in order to best inhibit bacterial growth. They will have the opportunity to perform virtual dissections and surgeries in order to deepen their learning about the human body. The possibilities are endless with this technology at our fingertips.

No longer will their economic status limit the technology that they have available to them. Providing these tablets for my students will change their lives for the better by removing the limitations of what we can do in our classroom.
