Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Schools have been hit hard with huge budget cuts as a result of the economy. Many teachers and support staff have been laid-off, and the budget for supplies has also been slashed. Teachers at our school need basic supplies to help our students continue to learn and achieve.

The majority of our students are low-income and are second-language learners who need extra support to learn the curriculum.

We are a Title I school, and 100% of our students receive free/reduced lunch. We are part of a district that has been hit particularly hard by the state's budget cuts. We are also a small school with less than 300 students. As a result, we also have a harder time leveraging our resources, as they are limited to begin with.

My Project

The resources we are requesting are basic school supplies, such as paper and pencil, that I feel every child who attends a public school here in the United States should be entitled to. They are the basic necessities of schooling and without them, both learning and teaching become even more difficult tasks than they already are. This shouldn't be the case, but unfortunately with the economic situation today, many schools, including ours, are struggling with providing these necessities and have to make choices about what students and teachers can live without. Please help us provide these necessities to our students because going to school without paper and pencils shouldn't be an option.

Your donation will help our students who come from a socio-economic disadvantage acquire the basic school supplies they need to learn and achieve.

While every child has free access to public education, which is the very foundation of our democracy, not every child has equal access to the same quality education, which includes quality teachers AND school resources. Help our students achieve some of those basic resources by donating to our cause.
