Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are faced with serious challenges each and everyday. Being able to have school supplies at their fingertips will be one less challenge they have to worry about, and thus they will be able to focus on learning and practicing mathematics.

My students are faced with serious challenges everyday.

Outside of school the face violence on a daily basis. Many of my students know someone who is or has been in jail. They have so many obstacles outside of school that focusing on school is a challenge. Yet, I continue to challenge them everyday. While I am aware of each of their individual struggles, I still push them in the classroom, because if I didn't I would be failing them. That being said, I have found essential school supplies that are pertinent to fostering their success in the classroom. Getting my students to come to school is an accomplishment, so I don't want something as simple as forgetting a pencil to hold them back from being in class and doing their work. Donations to secure essential school supplies for my students will go a long way!

My Project

I am requesting pencils, erasers, white board markers, pencil sharpeners, among other school supplies for my students. Writing materials will allow them to practice math everyday, whether it be on whiteboards or paper. Practicing math is the best way to learn it. With white board markers my students will be able to play math games, perform independent practice, and it gives me the ability to immediately check if they are understanding the material. With pencils students will be able to practice right on their worksheets. Giving my students the materials they need to succeed in math would be amazing!

Having these materials in our classroom will truly allow my students to gain the in class practice that they need to master the skills and objectives they are learning.
