"Mrs. H, a story is like a present!" One of my students made this announcement after learning how to use an assistive technology program to aid his writing. He was right. A story is like a present and my students have so many stories to tell. We need your help to make this happen.
My students are deliciously smart, funny, and creative students who are on the Autism Spectrum.
Some need to access assistive technology to help them express their thoughts in writing. We are in need of one iPad mini with a protective case to use with writing assistive technology apps so that they can tell their own stories and explore their words through writing.
My Project
We will use this technology throughout the day to write about science, social studies, and reading, as well as developing our ability to tell personal narratives, imaginative stories, and write on expository prompts. By accessing this technology, this students can show what they know without the frustration and energy drain that accompanies handwriting for students with significant fine motor deficits. I want to see them put their energy into thinking and expressing their thoughts!
Right now we have one tablet that is shared among many children.
This does not allow for my students to use the technology in the most effective way. Your donation will open the door for students to develop their writing skills more effectively.
