Students with autism and other special needs benefit greatly from a variety of physical activities. I teach adapted physical education in a special needs school for students with varying disabilities who are ages 10-21. Our school is in an inner-city setting and we have an extremely diverse population.

Our students with autism and other special needs often are in need of unconventional, high priced equipment to be as successful as possible. Physical activity and physical fitness are important to any child, however since our students do not have as many opportunities to participate in physical activity outside of school it is so much more important in our setting. Gym mats are a much needed tool that can be used almost any period of the day for so many exercises and programs. The problem is that these mats can be a pricey item to purchase and there is not nearly enough money in our small teacher's budge to cover purchasing such equipment.

With the donation of a gym mat you can help many students successfully, and comfortably accomplish things they would not have been able to without such resources.

Your help will ensure that my students get the exercise they need , which will hopefully lead to many other positive health and behavior changes.
