My Students

PS 16 consists of Kindergarten - Fifth grade. The students primarily come from urban, low socioeconomic families and many of them struggle to provide materials for their child. Our school is taking on a new approach to get all students proficient in ELA and Math.

The students at PS 16 are dedicated, engaged, and motivated learners.

The students strive to do their best in all subject areas. Students receive daily intervention services that provide reading and math support at their level. Enrichment is also provided in small group instruction.

My Project

The binders will be used on a daily basis. Students ranging from kindergarten through fifth grade will learn how to track the progress they make on assessments. Students will use the binders as a self-motivator to see the progress they are making whether it be small or large gains. All students will be creating their own graphs to assess their growth. The binders will also be used for conferencing. Students will use them to meet with their teachers to see what skills they have mastered and create a plan on how they can make growth in other areas.

This project will make a huge difference for all the students at PS 16.

The binders will allow the students and teachers to see what steps need to be taken in order to reach proficiency. The binders will also be a great learning tool for students, parents and staff. The parents will see that the students are making steady progress to be proficient. The charts inside of the binders will act as a self-motivator for each individual student and teacher.
