All of my classes are overcrowded, and I do not have enough supplies for every student. This breaks my heart because it is telling them that they aren't important enough to have their own calculator or their own marker board. I want to push my students to excel, but I need enough resources to do so.
The students at my school are sitting at 95% poverty.
It is an intercity school. I give food to hungry kids on a daily basis. All of my students have things in their lives that are telling them that they are less. I am trying to inspire them to stick through school, so they can get an education and get out of poverty. Help me help them.
My Project
This is not for a specific activity. These supplies will go for everyday functioning in my Algebra class. Students should not have to share calculators or textbooks. The paper is for assignments since my school doesn't have enough resources to assign every student a textbook. This way, every student will have an equal opportunity to learn how to solve equations or graph a line, so we aren't holding them back from success.
If every child has a calculator, they will have the opportunity to do the calculations on his/her own.
It will encourage a more efficient classroom with more successful students. My school has had a bad reputation in the past, but we are trying to instill integrity in our students to change the community and build a positive culture. Having day-to-day supplies will help us do that.
