My Students

Students learn best with hands on retelling of stories.

I teach 20 pre-k four and five year olds at a Title One school with a large population of Hispanic children from low income homes.

These students have limited language and experiences. Many of these families themselves do not have the language skills to help their child to become successful learners.

My Project

My students will use the flannel board and story sets to retell stories they hear in the classroom. This retelling of the stories increases their language skills. Students also learn better with a hands on approach. My students need these skills to be successful in my classroom as well as other grades. These story sets will let the children explore the story and the language from the stories by retelling to the teacher or their peers.

With your donation you would be helping my students build their new language of English through story retelling with the use of the flannel story boards sets.

Children will have the base they need to continue their learning in the upper grades and feel successful with their new language skills they have learned with story retelling.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
