My Students

It's been exciting moving towards the 21st century skills the students need. In order to facilitate collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity, I'm using tables in the classroom instead of desks.

My students are curious, flexible learners.

As we are in a pilot year of looping the 4th and 5th grade classes to provide additional opportunities for project based learning and technology, we are also piloting using tables in the classroom instead of desks. The students had adapted quite well to this system and have been gaining valuable organizational skills. The biggest problem with this system is that the students need a place to store their binders so they are not a hazard on the floor. My students need seat sacks to have storage for their binders.

My Project

With "At Your Seat Storage," the students will be able to hang their binders on the back of their chairs. They will also have a small pocket for extra supplies. If the binders are off the floor, students will be able to move more freely throughout the small classroom portable. This is beneficial because the students are often moving about switching partners, doing science experiments, and gathering math supplies.

"At Your Seat Storage" will help with the ease and flow of our school day in the classroom.

It will help provide a clutter-free classroom where students can easily move to meet with different groups of classmates.
