My students need books, pond water testing kits, a lifecycle theme box, and pond flip chart to help learn about the frog pond they built in our outdoor classroom.
I teach gifted learners in grades 3-5. These students are eager for opportunities to discover their world. They need content that is relevant to their lives.
I teach in a rural area.
Our kids come from a variety of backgrounds. They are gifted learners and are very curious about the world around them. Many gifted students can get bored in the regular classroom and tune out instruction. Providing learning opportunities in the outdoor classroom is perfect for these students.
My Project
My students built a frog pond in our outdoor classroom to provide a rich outdoor learning environment for our school.
They will use the pond kits and flip chart to think both creatively and critically and become environmental problem solvers. The books will help our children read about nature and the outdoors before we explore. The life cycle theme box will help bridge the gap and raise the bar in a creative and naturally differentiated environment.
Donating to this project will give my students the materials we need to learn outdoors.
Research has shown, lack of connection to nature can cause obesity, distraction, depression and ADD. Nature can enhance children's problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills. Learning in the outdoor classroom stimulates creativity and a love of learning.
