My students need piano keyboard stands for their school performances. They also need a wireless speaker for their music to be heard by the audience.

Imagine: you're a student at an inner city middle school, with a music program that travels on a cart from room to room. You want to have a chance to perform for your peers and school community. You work hard, but lack the means to move the work from the classroom to the stage. What do you do?
This year, I have the challenge of addressing that question for various performance opportunities as they arise.
Every year, the student body changes slightly. One thing that remains the same is the great potential in each student to be a resourceful, talented, and confident individual ready to face the new experiences and opportunities the school year holds. As teens coming of age in the inner city, the vast majority come to school on any given day with hopes, dreams and a multitude of problems resting on their shoulders. Still, they have shown me how much they truly care about improving their skills so they can work at grade level and above in all subject areas. To accomplish their goals in music, though, they need a few things: encouragement, support, motivation... and most of all, basic music program equipment and materials.
The equipment we are requesting is needed for the everyday performance situations of our music program. We do not have basic equipment like piano keyboard stands for in-class performances, or a functioning speaker system to amplify the audio content used during classroom instruction and performances. With these materials, my students - who are talented, but come from impoverished neighborhoods - will have a much higher chance of achievement and reaching their dreams and goals.
The importance of music education is constantly supported through research in music education, math, literacy, and the mind.
If we can spark a fire within these students and help them cultivate a passion for music and the arts, the impact has no limits. A musically fluent child is an individual who will one day have choices and be better equipped to face challenges. No student should face limited options and one-way paths. For a better tomorrow, please help fund our project.
