Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I want my students to have the best education possible. We are a community of learners and we strive to learn from each other. We love to help each other and that helps us be a better classroom/community.
I teach for Oklahoma City public schools.
Sadly, many of our classrooms do not have everything we need. We are now a school with 100% free lunch. We are a growing community where we strive to provide the best education possible. I am faced with daily challenges as some students do not have someone to work at home with them. That does not discourage us. On the contrary we strive to give our students the best every single day. My kids are curious and full of ideas. They always have a question to ask and they love to brainstorm together. We are truly a community where we have learned to respect each others differences.
My Project
My students will use two Samsung Galaxy tablets during small groups reading time, during math centers, and other small group time. My students are working hard to become independent readers and higher order thinking students and I know that will accomplish that with the help of these digital aides.
My project will impact the lives of many students.
I teach Pre-kindergarten so I will be setting the standard for the attitude and outlook most students have on their academic futures.
My students come from a high poverty background and they lack many things including technology. Currently we do not have any kind of technology in our classroom and I know these tablets will allow for my students to work independently in many of the necessary skills such as counting and reading.
