Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"It is better to light a candle than curse the darkness," Eleanor Roosevelt said. Can you imagine producing a daily news broadcast that airs to the entire school and not having adequate lighting? HELP!!!!!!

My student are at-risk third graders who attend a public school in a high-poverty area in New York City.

Although many of my students are reluctant readers because of their weak reading skills, they are, nevertheless, enthusiastic, motivated, and always camera-ready.

My Project

Your generous donation to this project will spotlight the work of these students and set a pathway that other students can follow. Their daily newscasts will make my students "famous" and encourage other students to become interested in producing the daily broadcast that airs to the entire school.

The resources needed for this project will let my students know that their labor (whether script writing, researching the daily "brain-teasers", developing interview questions, etc.) has not been in vain because their peers, teachers, and school leaders will be watching.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
