The kids in my class love the Smart Board! It engages them in a unique and innovative ways, and is useful in all areas of the curriculum. However, we need our technology updated every few years in order to make the applications relevant.
My students are tech savvy!
They love to step up to the Smart Board and show off what they know, and I love that we have these kinds of resources available at our school. It enhances the academic day in a way that enables students of all levels of learning to participate in a meaningful way.
My Project
I am hoping to fund a desktop iMac, thunderbolt cable, magic trackpad, external drive (to add additional functionality to the computer's internal drive), wireless keyboard to allow for ease of use when teaching from the computer, VGA adapter so the computer will be used with the smartboard and other tech in the classroom, and an airport express base station, so I can connect with the internal school servers and wifi. The computer will be more compatible and up to date with newer applications which will make it easier to use the Smart Board effectively. I am eager to try new programs with a newer computer, which will hopefully be faster and more efficient.
My students will directly benefit by not having to cross their fingers whenever the computer attempts to open a program that may or may not be compatible with the present operating system!
By keeping up to date with the latest technology, I will be able to extend the usefulness of the Smart Board in my classroom and offer more tech smart lessons to my students.
