My students need Phonemic Awareness activities for the classroom, such as interactive Smartboard lessons, stamps, puzzles and other multi-sensory letter activities.
Do you remember learning the letters of the alphabet and the sounds they make? Some of us do and some of us don't. The students in my class face an extra challenge when learning the letters of the alphabet for many reasons. They all thrive on a hands on, multi sensory approach to learning.
The students are in a substantially separate classroom for students grade K-2.
The classroom is designed for student's with cognitive disabilities. All of the students benefit from an interactive curriculum that allows them to be hands on learners. They need to not only hear the information from the teacher but they need to be an active participant in the learning process. These supplies will allow the students to work with the school's phonics curriculum and show that they can apply what they have learned.
My Project
These supplies will allow the students to access the school's phonics curriculum in a way that they would not be able to before. They will be able to show me how they can apply the information they have learned in an interactive, hands on manner that is more appropriate for their learning needs.
I am a first year teacher and as you can imagine building a classroom for any teacher is a challenge.
With a classroom of students that ranges in grades from K-2 I am responsible for designing a curriculum that suits all their academic levels. Finding the appropriate materials is very challenging. I know that all the students in the class would benefit from these supplies and I would love to be able to show any donors how successful they will be.
