Mr. Wozniak from Detroit MI is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need Chromebooks for research, access to Google services for education, and other educational web applications.

My students crave knowledge and they are at their best when they are challenged. I want to satisfy their craving and challenge them in engaging and dynamic ways.
Our school uses a Social Studies Immersion program that helps students "develop the preparation to assume their future citizenship responsibilities - making informed, reasoned decisions for the public good.” My students come to the school from Detroit and surrounding cities and come from socio-economically diverse backgrounds.
The school is culturally African American, and we connect learning to our students' culture and background.
I teach 6th-8th grade Social Studies and a Political Science Major class. The few textbooks we have are outdated and in poor condition. Though I don't like to teach from a textbook (students tend to feel the same way), it is often convenient to have access to primary and secondary sources, pictures, and vocabulary in order for students to develop research and analysis skills. Instead of finding a new set of expensive textbooks for each class that will be out of date in two years anyway, I think my students would benefit more from a set of Chromebooks that they can use to access materials online while working collaboratively. Google Earth, Google World Wonders, web quests, interactive maps, texts and documents at every reading level, pictures and videos on every subject, and many more can be found online and bring learning alive for students.
These Chromebooks will help my students access materials at their own level and will build a sense of motivation and inquiry in their education.
Students get excited when they can use technology to access new worlds, and I hope this will help them build the skills they need to become lifelong learners. Anyone with a cellphone or computer today has the world. I want my students to realize their own potential and that of these powerful devices.
