My Students

Each morning there are 21 eager faces greeting me, ready to learn new and exciting things.

My students are a combination of 6 and 7 year olds entering a new school building for their 1st Grade year.

They are often excited and nervous at the same time for the new school year! Many of my students are living in poverty, but that does not keep their spirits down at all! They come to school ready to learn and excel in everything that they can.

My Project

My students will use a group table several times throughout the day. We have a literacy intervention time in the morning, and a math intervention time in the afternoon. I will serve a group of 5 to 6 students during each of these intervention times each day. I also utilize a teacher table during stations, so not only will my RTI students use the group table, every student will be there at sometime during the day. Right now, my teacher table is a round table, and that makes it difficult to engage all of my students at the same time.

A group table would allow me to get closer to the students and provide more individualized instruction to each one of them.

The students would also have another place in the classroom to learn and grow as 1st graders.
