This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is Title One and in an impoverished area. Our students are new to our country, language and culture. They all are excited about art and telling their stories by drawing and painting. The students want to paint so many pictures, that we quickly run out of supplies.
My students range in age from 1st-5th grade, and they all love to create art.
They are new immigrants to our country and art is their favorite class because it is a universal language. I teach in a Title One district which means that the families and area is very poor. It is often hard for them to put enough food on the table in these hard economic times. Art helps all of us forget our problems and create new worlds with paint.
My Project
I teach over 200 students each quarter and supplies quickly vanish. My students need sketchbooks for their daily art drawing practice. This project will give us a small range of drawing sketchbooks that we need to develop our artistic skills. Making rough drafts and perfecting drawing skills is very important to these young artists.
When you donate to our art project, "Sketchbooks for Budding Artists," you will be inspiring so many Title One students to practice daily drawing.
Your donation will uplift the spirits of many creative children. Thanks!
