My Students
In a technology filled world it is still imperative for children to learn the basic foundational writing skills. What better way to do this than provide them with fun and engaging writing activities and supplies?
My school is a Title 1 school with the majority of the students coming from low income homes. Unfortunately, some of my students have never held a pencil or crayon before entering my kindergarten classroom. Writing is something that has not been properly modeled or encouraged in their homes.
My Project
A successful writer is also a successful reader. Young children need the opportunity to participate in age appropriate writing and reading activities that are fun and engaging. The resources that I am requesting include games and fun activities that students will be able to use during small group instruction and independently in a writing center. I am also requesting a variety of writing tools such as dry erase marker boards, paper, an electric crayon sharpener to keep crayons sharp, word spacers and other items that will offer them a variety of writing experiences.
Young children learn best through play. Your support of this project will provide important foundational writing opportunities for my kindergarten students that will be disguised as play opportunities. Thank you so much for your consideration in helping me fund this project!
