Do you remember sitting in math class and needing to wiggle around without disturbing others? I believe not only in interactive learning, but in ensuring all students can find ways to move around when they need to during teaching moments. With the items listed, I can help all students achieve!
My students are coming into a grade level that did not find much success in the previous school year.
I am just beginning to work in this school, so I do not know what I will get in terms of students. This school is in a high poverty area, so many of my students will likely lack resources beyond what's required of them. So I feel it's my job to make sure that all students will get their needs met. If students feel comfortable in a classroom, they will interact and engage in learning much more than if they feel itchy or fidgety without any means to relieve their need to move.
My Project
The primary purpose of the materials I requested is to keep my students engaged in learning without needing to think about disturbing others by their need for movement. Since I have a child with autism myself, I also want to make sure that the classroom contains sensory-friendly items like weighted lap pads and pencils with fidgets on them. Anything I can do to help students with multiple needs in my classroom will help them learn math more effectively.
Providing these materials for my students will mean the world not only to them, but their parents.
Imagine knowing that your child with ADHD, Autism, or other developmental disorders will feel comfortable in their math class? Not only will the students feel relieved, but the parents of these children will know that the community and their teacher cares enough to procure special items to help them learn better.
