How do all of the body organs fit together and work together? We cover Life Science this year which includes Human Body Systems and Ecology. We would like to have a Human Torso Model and class aquarium. In addition, we are seeking a class dictionary and reference books.
Our student come from a high poverty district.
We have a wonderful group of students that have heart and a hunger for learning. Yet we lack many of the materials in our Science department to engage them with. Our students are very interested in Life Science. These are amazing young people who would greatly benefit from having classroom enrichment. They are hard working young people. Investing in these students is an investment in the future. I see them doing great things in our school and community. If you met these students you would be as proud of them as I am.
Our school is in its second year and the Science Department lacks materials and supplies. Our students really want a more interactive experience in Science. They hope to have models and examples they can see, touch and interact with.
My Project
Though our school is only in its second year, our science rooms lack materials. Our students would greatly benefit from having a model they can see and touch. Models are very expensive and we have chosen a small one, hoping to at least have one the students can interact with. Having a Human Torso model will give them a model that they can take apart and see the organs in a 3-D format. This will give them a deeper understand of Human Body Systems, which is a big part of the curriculum.
We also cover ecosystems and ecology this year. We are hoping to add an aquarium to our classroom. We will fill it with plants and aquatic animals to observe the aquatic environment. This will also help when we cover water cycles, ground water, and runoff which can effect the quality our water sheds.
Last but not least, we hope to add to our class library by adding a class dictionary and reference books. We are adding to our vocabulary every day, but lack a class dictionary.
This project will have a huge impact on our school.
We will share the model between our nearly 200 seventh graders. These materials will last for years, having an ongoing impact on generations of students. We are committed to giving our best in the classroom, however we lack funding for enrichment materials. This project will not only give our students materials which they can see, touch and interact with; but it will also inspire, enrich and give a deeper understanding for the topics we cover.
