My favorite quote is “Tell me and I will forget; Show me and I will learn; Involve me and I will understand.” a Teton Lakota Indian saying. As an educator, I believe this to be true for everyone. With a plan of action, I know my students will "learn" more with each lesson involving these laptops.
I am a 4th grade team teacher at a Pre K-fifth grade school.
Our town is known to be a close knit community with a lot of parental support. Our feeder school has more than 500 students. As a school, we have worked very hard to move forward with technology school campaigns. As a school community, the realization of how important technology is in schools is evident. Our leaders and teachers are always working to move forward to gain technology resources. As our school technology motto says, we "keep our eye on technology" at all times! Like me, my students are drawn toward creative technology projects. We would love to have two working laptops.
My Project
As a teacher who loves integrating technology lessons, I know bringing upgraded laptops in my classroom would help enrich effective lessons for my students. I know the importance of focusing on different student levels. I do that daily in all subjects with the help of technology. At this time, I have a couple of outdated XP computers & old Macs, so I know for certain new laptops could help meet more needs with my 4th grade students this year. With our XP computers upgraded to Windows 7 last year, it seriously slowed down our computers. My older Macs have become basically obsolete at this point. In short, my students are struggling with our "so called" working computers. At this time, I feel I have to focus on trying to earn my students new laptops. Using this site is the route I am choosing to get help. Know that we use our computer centers daily for all subjects I teach. I would use these laptops in multiple ways to seamlessly mesh our curriculum standards with technology resources.
Together you and I have an opportunity that would enable me to strive for two goals.
To learn more, my students need to step back and become involved. As the Teton Lakota saying goes “Tell me & I will forget; Show me and I will learn; Involve me and I will understand.” By involving my students in this process, they can learn! With the help of generous donors, they will strive to become better students. Will you consider helping my enthusiastic students "understand" more with upgraded laptops?
