Deepak Chopra once stated, "I've always felt that technology can be used to our benefit and should be used to our benefit." As an educator, I truly believe this too, even more so, when it comes to our students! Believe it when I say, we are crossing our little fingers for a new ipad mini 2 and case.
As a parent and teacher at a small town feeder school, I would say we are blessed to live in a town with a big heart!
Our local school has more than 500 students from Pre K through 5th grade, I have taught several grade levels and feel I have finally hit my stride with 2nd grade. I am a self contained teacher who implements technology on a regular basis. Our school sponsors many events annually that tie academics, learning and fun together. I have hard working second graders who love technology and love to learn!
My Project
Since I began working at this current school in 2007, I have taken pride in my technology journey. My students work with computers, interactive white boards and in independent centers. While I work with my guided reading/math centers, I have several active centers that reinforce and enhance lessons previously taught. Having a class iPads help my students tremendously! At the present time, our school has a few shared iPads. The problem however, lies the need for more in centers. Suffice it to say, the students love using iPads in our centers and we could use several at this time. With additional iPads, I know my class could reap the benefits of using it daily. My priority would be to assist with independent practice and work up to project based activities. Our school has an awesome iPad Resources website that was set up to help teachers and parents find free and affordable apps, as well as helpful articles. With many of these apps, we could use them to work with lessons.
You can make a difference by bringing an iPad mini 2 and case to my 2nd grade students.
